Mission

In the Catholic tradition and the spirit of St. John Baptist De LaSalle, St. Raymond High School for Boys, in collaboration with parents and the parish community, serves young men who reflect the economic, geographic and cultural diversity of the New York metropolitan area. Our school is a unique faith-centered community that integrates thinking and believing in ways that encourage intellectual growth, nurture faith and inspire action. Administration, faculty and staff strive to touch the hearts of students through instruction that is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Live Jesus in our hearts...forever!

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the passing of a true St. Raymond High School for Boys legend - Mr. Ronald Patnosh. The St. Ray’s hero died peacefully early Friday morning September 19, 2014 after being hospitalized on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was 76 years old.

As a Lasallian educator for more than a half century, he was a man who exemplified what is means to inspire, educate and motivate the St. Raymond students. He served as the chairman of the History Department, was a moderator of the History Club, served as the school’s Athletic Director, was the Assistant Principal for 15 years, led the school’s JV baseball team and was the Varsity baseball coach for 48 years. In the Spring of 2010, he retired as head coach after the team won the semi finals of the City Championship and received the Sportsmanship Award by the CHSAA. Post retirement, he was the team’s biggest fan and continued to showcase his dedication and support for the school’s student athletes and school community overall.

It was an honor to have Ron Patnosh as the face and heartbeat of our school since 1962 and as he would say “I came with the building”. He was revered by all who knew him and would often be the reason so many alumni would reconnect with their alma mater. No matter who you would meet, the first question was always “Is Ron Patnosh still around” and the answer will always be…yes, only now, in our hearts. Thank you to our dear friend for always being there to lift as you climb, serve our students and our school and for being the true gem of the St. Raymond family. You will forever be missed…

St. Raymond Senior Giovanni Abreu Drafted by Texas Rangers

The Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is held every year in June which houses the 30 Major League Clubs in professional baseball. The Clubs take turns selecting players in reverse order of their won-lost records at the close of the previous regular season. The Major League Rules govern which players are eligible for selection in the Draft. Generally, a player is eligible for selection if the player is a resident of the United States or Canada and the player has never before signed to a Major League or Minor League contract. Luckily for St. Raymond High School for Boys, all high school players, if they have graduated from high school and have not yet attended college or junior college- are eligible!
This year, after three days, 40 rounds and more than 1,200 picks, the 2014 First-Year Player Draft concluded Saturday and SRHS newly graduated Senior, Giovanni Abreu, earned a position to take the next step on his professional baseball journey. As day three approached, Abreu got picked to join the Texas Rangers in round 14, spot number 426 out of 1,215 spots. Abreu is a right-handed pitcher with a fastball of up to 92mph. He is an impressive young man on and off the field who has left a lasting effect on the halls of St. Raymond. We congratulate him on such a profound accomplishment in his life- something he has been working tirelessly to achieve. God’s blessings on this new journey, Gio!
Congratulations to the Class of 2014
